Let’s chat about GRIT.

Perseverance.

Hanging in there.

Sticking it out.

Unwavering till completion.

My trusty resource, dictionary.com defines grit as “firmness of character; indomitable spirit (cannot be subdued or overcome); and pluck (which means courage or resolution in the face of difficulties).

Oh heck yes!

Let’s get some GRIT!

I can’t be the only one who feels like I need a gentle nudge to take another step in a challenging situation or dig deep for one more courageous attempt.

Is there a recurring theme in your life requiring grit from you?

Grit is more than just resilience.

Grit is the unwavering commitment to persevere and pursue your desired outcome despite the difficulties, the setbacks, or the obstacles arising in your path.

It’s the combination of perseverance paired with passion helping us push forward when things get tough.

Grit is vital in our everyday life because it enables us to stay focused on the pieces that truly matter, helping us stay the course.

Life requires effort, patience, grace, endurance; we could go on and on.

Grit shows up to move through the conflict, initiate forgiveness, and turn up the endurance; especially when times are hard.

When grit is absent, we can lose the determination, fortitude, spunk, and tenacity to keep going.

We abandon dreams - or worse stop dreaming.

We quit on our goals.

We experience strain or brokenness in our relationships.

We find ourselves in a cycle of frustration, self-doubt, or complacency.

We see the hurdle - but we’re just not sure we can or even want to muster the effort to get over it, through it, around it, or whatever route it may take.

This is NOT a place any of us want to find ourselves.

But sometimes we do.

I literally found myself there this week.

And I know I’ve been there more times than I’d like to admit.

It’s a good thing God’s Word encourages me and reminds me I can persevere in His strength.

Encouragement to keep going is found in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”(NIV)

And the reminder to tap into God’s strength to get through the trials; “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1b -2a (NIV)

Let’s get gritty! For real. Let’s take steps to push through when it feels like too much...

breakthrough is just around the corner.
